1. What are the guiding principles of the Congress of Vienna ?
Answer:After the battle of waterloo,all the heads of the European countries met at Vienna in 1815.They prepared the following giudlines:
· the principles of restoration and legitimacy.
· Balance of power and compensation
· Rewards and punishments
2.How did Europeans succeed in colonizing china ?
Answer:China from times immemorial remained isolated.However the Europeans succeeded in colonizing china to get trading facilities
Ø After the defeat of china in the second opium war,it was made to accept the settlement of foreigners in peking
Ø When japan invaded china,the European powers with their selfish motives intervened on behalf of china against japan/s incursions into china
Ø Slowly the Europeans powers developed influence in china and finally china was parceled out among the big powers.
3.What are the unifying factors of Indian culture ?
Answer:All the Indians consider the Ramayana and the Mahabharata as the epics
Ø From times immemorial India has been referred ton as Bharata varsha
Ø Sanskrit was the language of the ancients and it fostered unity among them
Ø There are some common festivals also
4.give an account of salt satyagraha ?
Answer:In 1930 the british government imposed tax on salt
Ø On the issue,mahatma Gandhi started salt satyagraha on 12th march,1930
Ø He walked from his Sabarmati ashram near ahmedabad to dandi,a sea-side village
Ø He covered 200 miles on foot along with many congress volunteers
Ø So,it was called Dandi March

5.Define National and state paries ?
Answer:State party:A party which secures at least four percent of valid votes in a general election either to the loksabha or vidhan sabha is recognized as a state party.Eg:Telugu desam party in Andhra Pradesh
National Party:a party which is recognized as a state party at least in four states is given the status of national party.Eg:Bharatiya janata party,congress party
6. Mention the objectives of SAARC ?
Answer: SAARC is the abbreviation form of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.It was launched in December ,1985.
· To promote the welfare of the people of South Asia.
· To achieve economic,social and cultural development
· To make the South-Asian countries self reliant
· To understand each other’s problems
7.Mention any three safety measures for riding bicycles ?
Answer:Bicycle is the most commonly used means of travel and transport in India.We find a plenty of them in urban and rural areas.The riders of the bicycles should observe the following safety measures
Ø Theyshould not drive their bicycles recklessly because at times they may lose the control of their vehicles
Ø They should not stop suddenly without signaling
8.Why are safety-measures essential in using roads ?
Answer:The population has been increasing in leaps and bounds.With the use of all types of vehicles ,the volume of traffic in towns and cities also has increased substantially.Fatal accidents have become a routine affair.

Answer:First international was organized by Karl Marx in 1864.It was a conference of the delegates of the working class all over the world.In the conference a pledge was taken to preopagate Marxian Socialism in the world.
10.What is Apartheid ?
Answer: Apartheid is the racial discrimination shown by the minority white rule against the blacks in South Africa
11.What are the unifying factors of Indian culture?
Answer:common festivals,Woshipping common gods and goodesses and common customs and traditions
12.Define Regionalism ?
Answer:Regionalism is the tendency to preserve and promote the language,custom,culture,economy and the way of life of a particular region
13.What does traffic management depend on ?
Answer:Traffic management depends on traffic education
14.What is the full form of C.T.B.T ?

15. What are the factors responsible for the rise of Imperialism ?
Answer:Imperialism was a mid-19th century invention.Lenin defined Imperialism as the “Highest form of Capitalisim”
Factors for the rise of Imperialism:
· Search for the raw materials:From the mid-19th century,the European nations were highly industrialized and were in need of raw materials .Africa and Asia offered of the raw materials such as cotton,silk,rubber,vegetables oils and minerals needed by the multiplying factories of Europe.
· Need for new markets:The European nations required new markets to sell their products.Then they began to explore the new regions for establishing their markets.
· Political factors:Some nations with vast empires needed naval bases and coaling stations.There was also a feeling among the European nations that the acquisition of colonies reflected the glory of their mother country.
· National pride:Some countries like Italy and Germany had the script and hunger for national pride and this led to colonial expansion.
16.What were the results of the First World war ?
Answer:The first world war started in 1914 and ended in 1918
Results:
· Kaiser William 2 of germany,who was mainly responsible for the war,was defeated by the allies.He fled away to Holland
· Socialist republic was set up in Germany
· Germany was disarmed,weakened and humiliated
· The war created a lot of loss to property.Ten million people were killed.Many more were wounded.
· Many European industries were ruined.Unemployment rose to the peak
· After the war victorious powers met in paris to settle various political,social and economic problems of Europe.
17.What were the political and economic consequences of the World war-2?
Answer:Political results:British domination decreased
· America and Russian emerged as super powers
· Europe domination on Asiatic countries ended
· Burma,Egypt,Ceylone,Malay got independence
· France,Portugal and Holland lost their colonies
· National liberation movements started
Economic results:The second world war caused a great loss to mankind.There was an enormous loss to the men and material
· ¼ of National wealth of Russia was lost
· Inestimable loss was incurred by Holland,germany and Portugal
· War ships, aeroplanes and tanks were destroyed on a large scale.
· The dropping of atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki brought a great loss to mankind
18.What was the contriobution of the Mughals to art and sculpture ?
Answer:Mughal Architecture:The Mughals greatly contributed to the development of art and sculpture.Their sculpture with Akbar.He built the city Fathepur Sikri and made it bhis temporary capital.Buland Darwaja he constructed in Farthepur Sikri is agreat monument structure.He constructed his own place.Jodhg Bai palace,Ibadath Khana.Diwani Aam,Diwani Khas,Naubath Khana are exemplary.

19.What is Secularism ?how is India committed to iot ?
Answer:Secularism means that the religion or religious considerations should not enter in the functioning of the state.It may be called “Dharmanirakeshtra”.
· Def:A secular state is a state which is not guided by any particular religion in the performance of its functions.
· In India there is no State religion
· The State does not interfere with the religious matters of the people
· Every citizen has a right to follow or not to follow any religion
· One cannot propagate religious beliefs in a way to disturb social harmony and peace
20. Describe the functionalities of Election Commission of India ?
Answer:
· The work of conducting elections to the parliament and state
Legislature is entrusted to the Election Commission
· It is an autonomous body
· It prepares the electoral rolls and timely revises them before every general election
· It ensures that elections are held as per schedule
21. What are the functions of the United Nations Organisation ?
Answer:Secretary General is the chief administrative officer of United Nations.He manage the Secretariat.
Ø He submits annual reports to the general assembly on the activities of united nation organization
Ø He brings to the notice of security council any issue that threatens the internal peace and security
Ø He appoints a large staff to handle the whole organization effectively
Ø He implements the decisions and policies of the U.N.O
22. What precautions should be taken by the Motor-cyclist and Scoterists ?
Answer:Every day we come across of many deaths of motors-cyclist in newspapers.previous lives are lost
Ø He should not exceed the speed limit.It is better to drive slowly even the road is clear
Ø The motor cyclist should not dare to drive when he is drunken state
Ø He should keep back where necessary from the vehicle ahead
Ø He should not overtake just before the zebra crossing
Ø He should use the right gear
Ø He should not allow himself distracted by the pillon rider
